Overview of the ElectriHose systemElectrihose might seem to be a contradiction as it puts water and electricity together in the same casing. This is probably the most innovate part of the design as through a simple quick connect coupling both water and power can be connected to a peripheral device. The innovation does not stop there as power and communication data can be multiplexed together. By adding computer control you have a powerful system that can provide completed resource (water) management and also a remote data collection system.
Background
The invention stems from the need to control the supply of water to a large number of plants in locations where conventional methods are not suitable or too labour intensive. To enable this function to be carried out it is necessary to provide a liquid (water) and electricity to the points to be controlled. This enables electronics to play a major part in the automatic controlling. In addition the supply of electricity, in a safe manner, along with a liquid enables other controlling mechanisms to be employed so that functions other than just watering plants can be performed. Additional functions include:
- Data collection for environmental monitoring
- Data transmission to remote points
- Transmission of still Video from remote points
- Transmission of audio from remote sites
- Surveillance
