Overview of the BumpGuard! system
When Cranebank Garage, in Chester, experienced problems operating a car hoist they asked R.S.T. to look at a collision warning system.
BumpGuard! has been designed to be fitted to the vehicle hoist used by Cranebank garage which, is located close to a protruding roller door frame. It the past vehicles have struck the obstacle and sustained damage. BumpGuard! is designed to give the operator of the hoist warning that a vehicle on the hoist is going to hit the rolling door frame. The warning is given audible and visually but the system will not stop the hoist. The hoist motion can only be stopped by the operator. BumpGuard! uses a 'trip wire' sensor which the vehicle must lift a short distance to operate the system alarms.

The picture to the left show BumpGuard installed on the hoist at Cranebank Garage, Chester.
To date the system has worked as expected.
One point to note is that when the alarm operates the siren frightens the life out of the operator who, of course, lets go of the hoist control which stops the hoist dead in its tracks.
